Portable ECG and EEG

Advances in neural signal analysis, such as detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA), have allowed neuroscientists to capture the self-affinity character of neural signal to help us better understand the human mind. Emerging evidences suggest that meditation can influence the activities of ANS as well as the correlation between brain and heart. To measure these processes, DFA is a preferable method but the analysis requires long-term measurements. With the development of portal devices of ECG and EEG, we can collect such data and measure the unique feature of self-affinity, the brain and heart correlation, and advance our research on the relationship between meditation and autonomic nervous system (ANS).

Currently, Our work on portable EEG/ECG study of meditation and ANS include:

  • Established Detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA) in EEG and ECG.
  • Acquired some portable devices of ECG and EEG and performed some data analyses.
  • Found that frontal lobe is sensitive in meditation related brain activity.
